There will be two busses available for this event.

Bus from Carrick-on-Shannon: Bus to leave Carrick at 10am – collecting at Tulsk and Roscommon town

Social Club Connemara

Healthy County Galway, in partnership with The Alzheimer Society of Ireland, is delighted to
announce the launch of two Dementia Cafés and one social club in Connemara, located in
Carraroe, Clifden, and Lettermullen, starting in May. The cafés have received funding from
Healthy County Galway, The Alzheimer Society of Ireland, and Creative Ireland.

These cafés will provide a warm and welcoming environment for people living with cognitive
impairment and their carers to meet, connect, and share experiences

Dementia Cafés offer an opportunity for individuals to share
their experiences and obtain reliable information on dementia care and supports, free of
charge. Each café will feature a planned schedule of activities and talks each month, catering to
both people living with dementia and their carer.

About Dementia Cafés:
Dementia Cafés provide a supportive and inclusive space for individuals affected by dementia.
These cafés are designed to foster a sense of community and belonging, where attendees can
engage in meaningful conversations, participate in activities, and access valuable resources.

The monthly activities and talks are tailored to address the needs and interests of both people
living with dementia and their carers, ensuring a holistic approach to support and care.

Benefits of Attending:
• Social Connection: Meet others who are experiencing similar challenges and build a
network of support.
• Information and Resources: Access reliable information on dementia care, services,
and supports.
• Activities and Engagement: Participate in a variety of activities designed to stimulate

The Loughrea Carer Support Group meet on the second Tuesday of every month in St. Brendan's Community Nursing Unity, Loughrea from 7.30-9.30pm.

Come and have a chat, a cup of tea and get support and advice from others who care. New members are most welcome.

Morning:

10:00 AM: Summer Saunter in the Palace Grounds, Tuam

11:00–12:30 PM: Brunch at the Ard Ri

Afternoon:

4:00 PM: Talk on Solar Power, Energy, Generators, etc. at the McWilliam Hotel, Claremorris

After the Talk: Light Dinner at the McWilliam Park Hotel, Claremorris

Join other family carers in the Athenry area for the monthly Athenry Carers Support Group.

Meetings take place from 8-10pm on the second Wednesday of the month (excl. July and August) at the Skylark Centre in Athenry.

New members are always most welcome.

The Headford Carer Support Group meet on the second Thursday of every month in the upstairs Kitchen of Moyne Villa FC in Headford from 8-10pm.

As part of our activities for National Carers Week, family carers in Galway, Mayo and Roscommon are invited to a attend a day trip to Strokestown House and the National Famine Museum.

Morning:

Tour begins at 10.30am

There is a Bus from Galway to Strokestown via Tuam leaving at 9am sharp. The group will depart Strokestown at 12.30/1pm

Afternoon:

Lunch: Enjoy a meal at the Abbey Hotel, Roscommon at approximately 1:30–2:00 PM

Activities: Retail therapy and sightseeing, including visits to the Roscommon Friary and the Dominican Abbey

There is a charge of €10 for this event

Evening

For those returning to Galway, there is the option of dinner in the Ard Ri at approximately 7:00–7:30 PM – Buffet Style meal. There will be a cost for the meal of €23.50
